• Born Simla, India 1943.
• Returned to England 1947.
• Married 1969. Two children, son born 1973, daughter born 1974.
• Educated: Lime House School, Dalston, Carlisle.
• Nautical College Pangbourne, Berkshire.
• Associate Member of Royal Society of British Sculptors.

In 1966 I began sculpting professionally, concentrating mainly on exhibitions and portrait work.

I am self taught. First had work accepted in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 1973 and was befriended by Sir Charles Wheeler, President of the Royal Academy at the time.  

1975 Exhibition in London, Lasson Gallery and followed by an exhibition at the Kunsthandel Ina Broerse gallery in Amsterdam.

1975 – 1984 lived and worked permanently on the Island of Paros, Greece, where I sculpted in translucent white Parian marble and olive wood and studied Cycladic sculpture.

1979 and 1981 had one man exhibitions at British Council, Athens, which were televised by Greek National Television.

1982 Olive wood ‘Octopus’ sculpture accepted by Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 1982.

1984 Sculpture freighted back to England for London Exhibition which was televised by the Greek Embassy for Greek National Television.

Since returning to England in1984, I have spent much of my time working on larger sculptures which I enjoy as I feel sculpture is for everyone and has an important part to play in our environment. Recent commissions have enabled me to achieve this.

1986 Property Partnerships PLC. Life size bronze figure of girl wading in water, wearing a hat and carrying sandals, titled ‘Wader’, situated in specially designed pool in riverside gardens of Hotel Nelson, Norwich, Norfolk.

1988 Allied Lyons. Two life size bronze figures ‘Adam and Eve’, for corporate headquarters J. Lyons, Cadby Hall, London.

1989 Norwich Union Insurance Group, Sentinel House, Norwich, Norfolk. ‘Gaea’, 3 metre bronze group of five figures mounted on a circular granite base. Commission to represent the protective element of the company.

Large figure looking out into the world, holds within her cloaked arms, a father, mother and two children, one child is playing with a ball, the other looks happily on, all feel safe in the knowledge of their lives being protected by the mother figure.

1990 Sculpture of ‘Gaea’ placed outside the main entrance to Sentinel House, Norwich and unveiled by HRH The Duke of Gloucester.

Between 1990-97 Annually produced a piece of sculpture for companies that won The Eversheds Business Development Award, one of the categories in the Eastern Counties Newspaper Business of the Year Awards. These ranged from abstract bronze to bronze figurative pieces usually to be sited in the foyers of the businesses.

1991 Wyndham Investments commission. 3 metre abstract bronze ‘Surge’ Windsor Plaza, Hammersmith, London.

1992 R.G.Carter Ltd. Building Contractors commission for R.A.F. Cranwell. ‘Father of Flight’, Sicilian marble, figurative abstract sculpture.

1992-3 Settled in Cley-Next-The-Sea, North Norfolk, creating permanent studio and gallery in 19th Century barn.

1993 Commission to do sculpture for Jersey Museum, Channel Islands as a tribute to Jerseys maritime heritage.

1994 Marble sculpture ‘Frolic’, 70cm diameter disc, figurative carving on both sides, for a Norwich Union building, Caithness House, centre of Glasgow.

1994 One man exhibition in Galleri Bonneland, Odder, Denmark

1994 Jersey Museum, Jersey, Channel Islands.  Unveiling ‘The Docker’, life size bronze figure pulling on a coir hawser which follows through to the main entrance to the museum where it finishes in a large coil.

1997 One man exhibition in Galleri Bonneland, Odder, Denmark

1997-96 Won a sculpture competition funded by the Arts Council to do a sculpture for Bedford Maternity & Paediatric Hospital to be placed outside its main entrance. “Full Circle”, life size family group in a disc of Sicilian marble, diameter 1m 20cm x 50cm thick, carved both sides. One side shows a child between the legs of its parents the other side a baby nestled in the arms of the mother with a dog in between the legs of the parents. The figures of the parents follow the line of a circle, the symbol of creation and all that which is inside it is engulfed and protected not only by the parents but by the unity of the circle and everlasting life. The sculpture is on a base 1m 20cm high.

1997  Invited by the British Ambassador to Athens, Sir Michael Llewellyn Smith to have an exhibition of my work in The British Embassy Residence, Athens.

1998 – 99 Worked for my one man exhibition at the British Embassy Residence, Athens.

2000 One man exhibition in Galleri Bonneland, Odder, Denmark.

2000 – 2001 Worked for my one man exhibition in Cork Street, London, creating 35 pieces of sculpture ranging in size from small bronzes to outdoor pieces in stone, marble and slate.

2001 I spent 4 months at Oakham School, Rutland sculpting an abstract sculpture in Clipsham Stone. A Millennium commission symbolising optimism and energy. 4m 50cm high, weighing 5 tons and placed in front of the school library. The sculpture was unveiled in the Spring Term 2002.

2002 Apple sculpted in green Westmorland Slate for a client in the USA. This was a commission resulting from my one man exhibition in London 2001. The Apple was carved to create a sliced apple leaning to one side with a bronze stalk.  70cm diameter, finished weight 500 kilos or half a ton.

2004 Working on a 3m abstract sculpture for bronze, a site specific commission for a large British company, that was turned down by the planning department.

2006 Move to Blakeney.

2007 Building new Studio in Blakeney, Norfolk.

2008 Designing and making a sculpture for the new Tesco Store in Fakenham, Norfolk.

2009 Installation of 3m galvanised steel abstract ‘Oak Tree’ sculpture outside the entrance of the new Tesco Store, Oak Street, Fakenham, Norfolk.

2009 Open Studios, Norfolk and Norwich Festival.

2010-2011 working for my Norwich one man exhibition ‘Full Circle’, carving in Westmorland Slate, Carrara Marble and Portland stone.

2011 September. Guest Artist at The Aegean Centre for the Fine Arts, Autumn Session in Pistoia, Italy.

2012  Private commission for commemorative sculpture.

2013 -2014  Overseeing the casting of the coir hawser into bronze of The Jersey Docker and moving the sculpture from inside Jersey Museum to stand outside the Museum main entrance on a granite section of the old harbour.

2015 – 2016  Designing and overseeing building of new sustainable house next to my studio in Blakeney.

2018 – 2021 Working on new pieces, carving in ebony, olive and walnut woods and Parian marble.
